Founded in October 2022Luz Canta Girls has grown into a vibrant female choir of around 20 members, singing in 3- and 4-part harmony. Our community is joyful, passionate, and committed.

What We Sing

Our repertoire ranges from Baroque to Jazz, Pop, and Portuguese classics — all performed in multiple languages. We blend the challenge of classical music with the fun and emotional connection of lighter, familiar pieces. Audience engagement is at the heart of our concerts.

Our Choir Culture

  • A warm, supportive, and social environment
  • Emphasis on vocal technique, harmony, solfège, and interpretation
  • No sight-reading required — study materials provided
  • Individual practice between rehearsals expected
  • Deep sense of community, growth, joy, and achievement

Rehearsals

Mondays | 6:00 – 8:00 PM (with a short break)
Clube Luzense  R. Direita 11 1, 8600-160 Luz

Concerts & Choir Day

  • 3 concerts per year – typically held at Igreja Nossa Senhora da Luz
  • All concerts support local charities – funds raised go to CASLAS and Algarve Families in Need
  • Each term includes a dedicated Choir Day – a mix of focused rehearsal and social time before our big performance (attendance encouraged but optional)
